ABOUT THE ANM
Auxiliary Nursing and midwife (ANM) is the most basic course in the field of nursing and also known as the grass-roots workers in the health organisation pyramid.
​
Nursing requires communicating with patients and assisting doctors in providing care and therefore a nurse should be adequately qualified to interact well with both doctors and patients. In addition, good operational and managerial skills and reliable patient record keeping are also essential.
​
ANM professionals are predominantly involved in maternity care and assisting new mothers during pregnancy. The diploma encompasses a broad variety of subject areas such as microbiology, genetics, anatomy, psychology and sociology, nursing fundamentals, behavioral science and first aid. For people who are high in will power, are devoted and have attributes such as endurance, tenacity and observation abilities this is undoubtedly the most appropriate course.
PROGRAMME LEVEL & COURSE DURATION
Diploma with 2 Years Duration.
ELIGILIBILITY
The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st December of the year in which admission is sought and the maximum age for admission shall be 35 years.

Passed 10+2 from CHSE Odisha or equivalent. Or Candidates qualify in 10+2 Exams conducted by National Institute of Open School (equivalent to CHSE Odisha) are also eligible.
​
ASHA having 10+2 pass is eligible for applying the ANM course.
​
Only female candidates are eligible to apply.
​
Must be a domicile / permanent resident / native of Odisha but currently residing outside Odisha. ( applicable candidates taking admission in central counseling only).
​
Student shall be medically fit for the course.
COURSE OBJECTIVE

To be able to perform basic health care activities in the assigned role.

To provide professional midwifery services and refer mothers at risk to hospitals.

To provide immunization programs, family healthcare and services for family planning.
​

To educate people about self health and hygiene.
​

To understand the principles of a healthy life related to all age groups.

To establish first-aid and emergency nursing skills, elementary medical care, including minor ailment treatment.

To promote community development activities.

To render skilled child care services at home, clinics or schools.
CAREER PROSPECTS
Successful completion of the diploma makes candidates eligible to be registered as an ANM and designated as a Nurse. They can get easily hired in many areas of health care such as government and private hospitals, nursing homes, old age sanatoriums, orphanages and even in the armed forces medical services.
