ABOUT THE P.B.B.Sc. Nursing
The Post Basic Bachelor of Science in Nursing program provides a broad-based curriculum within an academic context that builds on the skills and competencies learned at the diploma level. The program helps to upgrade the nursing skills of individuals who already have a background in nursing or a similar field. It is aimed at improving critical thinking skills, competencies and standards needed for skilled nursing and midwifery practice, as outlined in National Health Policy 2002.

An undergraduate degree affords opportunities for greater career advancement and higher salary options. It is often a prerequisite for teaching, administrative, consulting and research roles.
PROGRAMME LEVEL & COURSE DURATION
Bachelor’s degree with 4 Years Duration.
ELIGILIBILITY
The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) examination conducted by ON&MEB Odisha or equivalent there of.

The candidate must be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife of ONMRC or equivalent to any other state nursing council.
​
A candidate if has registered his / her name in other State Nursing Council, will be allowed to participate in the state selection process and after admission the selected candidates have to get registered under ONMRC and submit their reciprocal registration certificate at the respective college within two months from the last date of admission.
​
In case the selected candidate fails to produce the reciprocal registration certificate within the stipulated period the necessary action will be taken by the State Nursing Selection Committee, Odisha.
​
The candidate must be a domicile of Odisha /permanent resident of Odisha / native of Odisha ( applicable to candidates taking admission in central counseling only).
​
The candidates must have obtained a "No objection Certificate" from the appointing Authority /Competent Authority to undergo the course (for in-service candidates working in Govt./ Public sector undertaking /private sector). NOC must be submitted at the time of applying for the course. Without NOC the Application will be rejected. (NOC format in annexure – I attached under the Admissions category).

The Candidates must have passed minimum M.E standard Odia. (Only for Govt. Institutions & 85% Govt. quota seats in Private Institutions).
​
Both Male & Female candidates are eligible to apply.
​
Student shall be medically fit for the course.

According to the Indian Nursing Council the eligibility criteria for Post Basic Nursing is GNM with registration certificate in any state council in India.

An array of employment opportunities are available for qualified and dedicated nurses in Government Hospitals, Nursing homes, Super Specialty Hospitals, Private Hospitals, Old age Homes, Orphanages, Armed Forces, State Nursing Council, Indian Red Cross Society, NGO's, Government agencies and Research Institutes.
